In commemoration of the adoption of the Indian Constitution, Bishop Cotton Boys’ School celebrated the 76th Republic Day on the 26th of January with patriotic fervour. The special program commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by the Chief Guest, Group Captain Aaron Hurtis of the Indian Air Force, followed by the flagship event—an impeccable parade by our disciplined student marchers from the uniformed services, setting a tone of pride and patriotism.
The theme for this year’s Republic Day was ‘Swarnim Bharat – Virasat aur Vikas’ (Golden India – Heritage and Development).
Pranav Jain delivered a special address, highlighting key milestones in India’s constitutional journey over the years. This was followed by a compelling dramatic performance by the students of Grade Eleven, showcasing India’s progress in science, sports, literature, and other fields across all sections of society—perfectly encapsulating the theme and emphasizing the nation’s commitment to growth and development.
The ISC band then delivered a stirring rendition of Vande Mataram, fostering a sense of national unity among the audience. The cultural program concluded with a vibrant dance performance by the middle school students, celebrating India’s rich and diverse heritage.
In his address, the Chief Guest reflected on the events leading up to the framing of the Constitution, emphasizing the importance of exercising our rights while fulfilling our fundamental duties to become responsible citizens of the nation.
The dedicated efforts of the teacher choreographers were truly commendable, as the students delivered dynamic and enriching performances. Special appreciation was also extended to the teachers who trained the marching platoons and the support staff for their technical assistance, ensuring the success of the program.
Jai Hind!
