The Middle School Inter-House Spelling Bee competition was held on the 27th of August, 2024, showcasing a remarkable display of linguistic skills by students from each house. Each team comprised three participants—one each from Standards 6, 7, and 8—who represented their respective houses with enthusiasm and competitive spirit.
Our Principal, Mr. Allistair R. A. Freese, served as the pronouncer for the event. The competition featured four creatively designed rounds, each testing students' spelling skills across different categories. The rounds were titled "Food for Thought," focusing on food-related words, "Silence of the Lambs," featuring words with silent letters, "Double Trouble," focusing on double-letter words, and "History Mystery," challenging students with historical spellings.
The event was enjoyed by both participants and the audience, including students and staff alike. After an exciting series of rounds, Pettigrew House secured the first position, followed by Pakenham Walsh House in second place, and Pope House in third. Thomas House and Elphick House tied for fourth place.
The Spell Bee competition was a resounding success, particularly as it was held after a long hiatus, leaving everyone looking forward to more such events in the future.
