On the 19th of January 2024, Bishop Cotton Boys' School hosted a captivating seminar in collaboration with the International Medical University of Malaysia (IMU). Dr. Arun Kumar, the Associate Dean of IMU, along with a team of five members, addressed an eager audience of science students in their penultimate year of high school. The session provided valuable insights into the renowned institution, covering various aspects of medical education and career pathways.
Mr. Arun shed light on how IMU was introduced as the first and most prestigious medical university in Malaysia, boasting a rich history of 30 years. Dr. Arun Kumar highlighted the international character of IMU, revealing that 25% of its students come from countries such as India, USA, Canada, Australia, and more. Dr. Arun also delved into the medical program options offered at IMU, focusing on two tracks - the Local IMU MBBS and the Partner Medical School (PMS) program.
IMU was portrayed as a comprehensive institution with various schools, including the Pharmacy School, Health School, Medical Science School, and more. The presentation shed light on the extensive healthcare facilities available, such as E-lab, lecture theatres, simulation centers, student lounges, libraries, and hostels.
The seminar addressed the curiosity of students regarding life after MBBS as Dr. Arun elucidated on other career options available to doctors, broadening the perspective of the aspiring medical students, as he wonderfully engaged the audience with his personal stories and journey.
