Christmas is the season of joy, celebration, and togetherness. To mark this momentous occasion, Bishop Cotton Boys’ School hosted ‘Miraculous’, a musical Christmas ensemble, on the 19th of December. The auditorium, adorned in hues of green and red, festooned with Christmas trees, jingle bells, and wreaths, offered a captivating sight and festive ambiance.

The programme began with an opening prayer by Rt. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar, followed by the choir’s rendition of the hymn ‘Away in a Manger’, which set a serene and spiritual tone for the evening.

Christmas is not merely a time for grand festivities but also an opportunity to extend care to the downtrodden and marginalized. In an era marred by endless wars, the need to propagate peace is more urgent than ever. In solidarity with UNICEF’s mission, the school presented a poignant multimedia piece titled ‘What is War For?’, shedding light on the plight of war victims, particularly children, and urging the audience to embrace compassion and empathy.

Adding to the spiritual fervour was a soulful performance by the ancillary staff, who sang a special number in Kannada.

The evening sparkled with a heartwarming performance by the students of Bishop Gill Boys’ Home, KGF – a boarding home supported by the school. Following this was an adorable ramp walk by the kindergarteners and Grade 1 students, dressed as biblical characters, bringing smiles and cheer to the audience.

The highlight of the evening was the much-anticipated Christmas play, ‘Miraculous’. Performed by both staff and students, it vividly depicted the nativity story – the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ – and left the audience mesmerized.

The Christmas message was delivered by Bishop Rev. Dr. Prasanna Kumar Samuel, whose words enriched and inspired every soul present.

A special mention must be made of the meticulous efforts of the Art Department, whose stunning decorations transformed the auditorium into a Christmas wonderland. The stellar performances of the cast, the melodious choir, and the exceptional teamwork of the production team left the audience awestruck and deeply moved.

The ensemble was directed and produced by our esteemed principal, Mr. Alistair R. A. Freese, with Ms. Gabrielle as the associate director, ably supported by Mrs. Abigail, Mrs. Princy, and Mrs. Rekha. The collaborative efforts of the Costume Department, Art Department, Music Department, and Choreography Department were a testament to the extraordinary talent and dedication within the school.

The true spirit of Christmas – love, peace, and joy – was palpably felt by everyone in attendance. The evening concluded with a heartfelt message that remains etched in the hearts of all who witnessed this beautiful celebration.

On Straight On!
