On 15th of August, 2025, Bishop Cotton Boys’ School celebrated the country’s 79th Independence Day with great zeal and patriotic fervour.

The programme began with the arrival of our respected Principal, accompanied by the school band. The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Principal, followed by the National Anthem played melodiously by the school band.

The formal programme opened with a Bible reading and prayer, invoking blessings for peace and harmony throughout the country. This was followed by a colourful dance performance presented by the Junior School and Kindergarten students, which delighted the gathering.

Thereafter, a soulful violin performance by Ameya Karaba of grade nine added a serene and patriotic tone to the occasion. Following this, the Hindi Department presented a graceful dance that highlighted the rich heritage of Hindustani dance forms. A thought-provoking skit by the same department dramatically portrayed the ‘Divide and Rule’ policy of the British that caused religious disharmony and how the nation rose against it.

The celebration continued with a captivating rendition by the ISC band of the renowned anthem Vande Mataram, which set the stage for a moving dance programme by the Kannada Department. Their performance portrayed the duty, valour, and sacrifice of a soldier during wartime, evoking deep respect and admiration from the audience.

In his address, the Principal commended the work of the Hindi and Kannada Departments for the cultural programmes and the cadets of the various uniformed services, appreciating their commitment, discipline, and spirit of service. He also emphasized the importance of upholding the values of unity, responsibility, and service towards the nation.

The day’s celebration left everyone with a renewed sense of pride and patriotism, making it a memorable occasion for the entire school.

On Straight On!

Jai Hind!
