Bishop Cotton Boys’ School lifted the BEST DELEGATION trophy at La Martiniere Girls College, Lucknow, after persevering through a challenging three-day Model United Nations Conference (LMGMUN '24).

The delegation comprised nine delegates from standards 9 to 12, accompanied by their MUN coordinator, Mrs. Mercy Stanley. They spent four days (and four long, sleepless nights) in Lucknow, accommodated at La Martiniere Boys College.

Each day presented new challenges, which the Cottons Delegation faced head-on with unparalleled courage and an open mind. The close-knit group spent the majority of their time together, which greatly helped them navigate through both thick and thin. A key factor in their victory was the shared accommodation in just two rooms, fostering an environment where they could motivate and assist each other without distractions. The delegation dedicated themselves to MUNning for 96 hours straight, resulting in several individual accolades:

Best Delegate Awards

Abhimanyu Jha (NATO)
Pranav Jain (UNCITRAL)

High Commendation Awards

Smaran Chandrashekhar (UNGA)
Aryan Ajmera (IPC)
Anirudh Ram (UN Secretariat)
Adish Jain (WIPO)

Verbal Mention
Samarth S Hegde (UNHSC)

The delegation also included Bhuvanesh Satla (JCC I) and Abhishek Jonathan (JCC II).

Overall, Cottons swept the entire conference, achieving awards in almost every committee. After lifting the Best Delegation Trophy, they sang the iconic Cottonian March, instilling a sense of pride among the whole delegation. The victory was even more impressive as it was an international-level MUN conference, featuring delegations from not only across India but also from countries such as Bahrain and the UAE.

News of the victory was published in the prestigious ‘Lucknow Times’ newspaper and even announced by the captain of the airlines on the way back to Bangalore. The students had an amazing experience in Lucknow and were overjoyed at their triumph.

“The hospitality at La Martiniere College was just perfect. We would like to thank Principal Sir for entrusting us with this opportunity and arranging all the necessary accommodations in Lucknow. We would also like to thank our MUN coordinator, Mrs. Mercy Stanley, for all her support throughout and for raising our spirits when we were down.”
