Bishop Cotton Boys’ School hosted the Albert Barrow All India Inter-School Creative Writing Competition for students of Standards 11 and 12 on Friday, July 11, 2025.

The competition is held simultaneously at multiple venues across India to select the top ten creative essays each year. Along with the Frank Anthony All India Inter-School Debate Competition, it is a key annual event in the CISCE academic calendar.

It is a matter of great privilege that our school has been selected year after year to host this prestigious programme.
This year, 14 schools from across Bangalore sent their participants for the event.

Precision and confidentiality are essential criteria for the successful execution of a Council event. Keeping this in mind, the programme began at 09:00 hrs, with registration formalities completed by Ms. Sieona Angel and Ms. Gina by 08:45 hrs. The compere, Ms. Jenita Anandan, warmly welcomed the gathering, followed by Ms. Sunanda Prudence, who read from the Bible and invoked God’s blessings on the event.

The moderator, Ms. Madhuri Nair Sanjeev, then addressed the participants, speaking about Mr. Albert Barrow’s contribution to shaping the futuristic outlook of the CISCE. She also apprised the participants of the rules of the competition.

At exactly 09:30 hrs, the Principal, Mr. Alistair R. A. Freese, announced the topics of the competition. It is noteworthy that the sealed envelope is opened at all venues across the country at the exact same time—09:30 hrs!

Participants were given half an hour of preparation time and one hour for writing.
Once the moderator had collected the answer scripts, the event concluded gracefully with a closing prayer by Ms. Violet Johnson and a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Jenita, in the presence of the Vice-Principal.

Refreshments were served to the participants and accompanying teachers, after which the event came to a close.

We pray that our school continues to inspire creativity and critical thinking in the lives of young learners.
