June 12 is observed as the World Day Against Child Labour. The theme for 2026 was “Red Card to Child Labour: Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults.” To mark the occasion, the Labour Department of Karnataka organised an awareness campaign in Bengaluru to highlight the harmful effects of child labour and the importance of ensuring education, protection, and security for every child.
Students, educators, and government officials from Karnataka and Delhi gathered at the Kanteerava Stadium for the inaugural programme, which featured a powerful skit depicting the challenges faced by children forced into labour.
Sixty-five NSS and NCC students from Bishop Cotton Boys’ School participated enthusiastically in the event, which concluded with a rally through Cubbon Park, M.G. Road, and NGO Hall. Carrying placards and raising slogans against child labour, the students pledged to promote a safer and brighter future for all children.
The School thanks the NSS in-charge teachers, Mrs. Neelika Joel, Mr. Karianna H. S., Mr. Prakash M., and Mr. Jacob Robertson Tilak for coordinating the students and supporting this meaningful initiative.
