Baldwin Girls’ High School hosted Symposium, an inter-school debate competition held as part of its annual literary and cultural event, Rhyme and Rhythm. The competition brought together young debaters from schools across the city, providing them with a platform to exchange ideas and demonstrate their critical thinking, public speaking and rebuttal skills.
The topic for the debate was, “It is cruel and dishonest to tell children that they can achieve anything they put their mind to.”
Bishop Cotton Boys’ School was represented by two teams from Class X — Ameya Karaba and Atharv Sharma, and Anishk Pandey and Nirav Hariharan. Both teams displayed excellent preparation, confidence and teamwork throughout the competition.
Ameya Karaba and Atharv Sharma were adjudged the Best Team for their outstanding performance. The second team also delivered a commendable performance, narrowly missing out on an award.
The teams were accompanied by Mrs. Shampa Poddar, whose guidance and support were invaluable throughout the event.
The impressive performance of our young debaters brought laurels to the school and reflected Bishop Cotton Boys’ School’s commitment to nurturing confident, articulate and socially aware young individuals.
