In line with the Government of India, Ministry of Education’s directive, Bishop Cotton Boys' School enthusiastically participated in Swachhata Pakhwada 2024, held during the month of September. The school organized a range of competitions and activities aimed at promoting cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and resourcefulness among students.

Competitions Overview:

On 5th September 2024, various competitions were held class-wise:

  1. Junior I (Standards I, II, and III)– Poster Making Competition on the theme Be Clean & Safe.
  2. Junior II (Standards III and IV) – Wealth Out of Waste competition.
  3. Middle School (Standards VI and VII) – Best Out of Waste competition.

Exhibition of Creative Works:

The creative work produced during these competitions was showcased on 13th September 2024 in an exhibition inaugurated by the Principal, Mr. Alistair R. A. Freese in the presence of Vice-Principal, Mr. Anil Dutt, the school coordinators, and faculty members from the Biology and Environmental Studies departments. Both the Principal and Vice-Principal judged the competition, with students displaying remarkable talent, creativity, and a commitment to sustainability.

The event emphasized the importance of cleanliness and hygiene while instilling the values of resource management and environmental preservation. Students and staff were encouraged to visit the exhibition throughout the day, ensuring a wide reach of motivation to further efforts in this direction.

Clean Classroom Drive:

As part of the Swachhata Pakhwada initiative, the Senior School organized a Clean Classroom Drive on 12th and 13th September 2024. This campaign inspired collective responsibility among students and staff for maintaining a clean and hygienic classroom environment. The classrooms were judged based on:

  1. Clean dustbins.
  2. Proper arrangement of chairs and tables.
  3. Cleanliness of blackboards/green boards.
  4. Clean floors and walls.

The event fostered a culture of cleanliness and responsibility, ensuring that students develop a lasting habit of maintaining clean surroundings.

Conclusion:

Through these initiatives, Bishop Cotton Boys' School successfully instilled the principles of cleanliness, environmental stewardship, and resource conservation. The students actively participated and learned the significance of working towards a clean and healthy environment, aligning with the larger national objective of Swachh Bharat.
