As part of the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada 2024, Bishop Cotton Boys’ School hosted a seminar by Eco-Watch, a Centre for Environment and Sustainable Development, on 17th September 2024. The seminar, attended by students from grades 9 to 12, was graced by the presence of Principal Mr. Alistair R.A. Freese.
The session was facilitated by Mr. Akshay Heblikar of Eco-Watch, and the guest speaker was Dr. Mythri Ramachandra, an environmental biotechnologist with extensive experience in environmental conservation. She delivered a compelling talk on the topic “Daily Trojans Harming Human and Environmental Health: Can We Keep Them Away?”
Dr. Ramachandra highlighted the shift from “conviction to convenience” in daily practices, which has led to the generation of significant waste. She also discussed the harmful effects of toxins found in food products, cosmetics, and everyday gadgets, urging students to adopt eco-friendly habits and reduce waste.
The session was interactive and informative, leaving both students and staff motivated to embrace sustainable living. The program was coordinated by Mrs. Neelika Joel and Mrs. Rita S.K., members of the Swachhata Pakhwada core team.
