Prefects’ Investiture Ceremony at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, Bangalore
In alignment with Eleanor Roosevelt's powerful assertion, "A good leader inspires people to have confidence in the leader; a great leader inspires people to have confidence in themselves," Bishop Cotton Boys’ School celebrated its Prefects’ Investiture ceremony on June 21, 2024. This significant event installed the newly elected student body, empowering them with the responsibility to lead and uphold the school's values. The ceremony emphasized the ideologies of leadership and integrity, underpinned by the philosophy of ‘Leading by Example.’
The program commenced with Principal Mr. Alistair R. A. Freese, alongside Members of the Board of Management, escorting the Chief Guest into the auditorium. The Chief Guest, Mr. Varun Agarwal, is a distinguished alumnus, entrepreneur, director, author, and public speaker, renowned for his book ‘How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-Founded a Million Dollar Company,’ which has sold half a million copies. Leading the procession of the student body was the School Captain, Nirav Reddy, proudly bearing the School Flag.
During the ceremony, the Principal administered the oath to the three chief office bearers: Nirav Reddy as School Captain, Pratham R as Head of Day Scholars, and Advait N. Singh as Head of Boarders. Following this, the School Captain administered oaths to the senior and junior prefects. The occasion was further marked by a special song rendered by the school choir.
In his address, Mr. Varun Agarwal shared his experiences and nostalgic memories from his time at Cottons. He emphasized how the institution played a pivotal role in shaping his successful career, stating that the school's motto provided guidance in every aspect of his life. Mr. Agarwal candidly discussed the societal stigmas surrounding career paths in India and his personal struggles in breaking these norms to achieve fulfilment in his chosen field. His speech, infused with humour and wisdom, was both captivating and inspiring to the young leaders.
The Prefects’ Investiture ceremony concluded with the newly appointed leaders exuding a sense of pride, authority, and confidence, ready to face any challenges that lie ahead.
