Cottons observes International Yoga Day every year to raise awareness about this ancient practice and to celebrate the physical and spiritual benefits that yoga brings to the world. The practice of yoga enhances physical, mental, and emotional health. It plays an important role in relaxing the mind and body and boosting people’s immune systems.

Today, the cadets of Uniformed Services celebrated Yoga Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. The session started with a prayer and a brief introduction by Mr. Dhiviyanathan J. on the importance of yoga in maintaining the harmony between body and mind. The presence of Mr. Wilson S. Kumar and the masters in charge of uniformed services encouraged the cadets to participate eagerly in the celebration.

Mr. Sam Vijay, from the Department of Physical Education, began the session with warm-up exercises, followed by standing asanas. Below are the different asanas that were performed by the cadets:

  1. **Surya Namaskar** or Sun Salutation Pose
  2. **Bhujangasana** or Cobra Stretch Pose
  3. **Padmasana** or Lotus Position Pose
  4. **Parshvottanasana** or Intense Side Stretch Pose
  5. **Tadasana** or Standing Mountain Pose
  6. **Parvatasana** or Mountain Pose
  7. **Sarvangasana** or Shoulder Stand Pose
  8. **Shavasana** or Corpse Pose
  9. **Pranayama** – Breathing exercises

The celebration concluded with some advanced breathing techniques, and the students were encouraged to practice regular yoga to remain fit. They showcased a very energetic and spirited performance, highlighting the benefits of this ancient practice.
