Bishop Cotton Boys’ School successfully hosted the eagerly awaited Inter-House Marathon on October 28, 2024, at 9 a.m., marking this as a historic first for the Junior School.

The event was flagged off by our Principal, and the young Cottonians, proudly wearing their house colours, began with a spirited “On your marks, get set, go!” The race distances were set according to age:

  • 1 km for Standard I
  • 2 km for Standards II and III

Over 200 students from Grades 1, 2, and 3 participated, making for a memorable display of athleticism, sportsmanship, and house spirit. Students, staff, and parents gathered for a vibrant morning of healthy competition and camaraderie.

Special thanks go to Vice Principal Mr. Anil Dutt, Mr. Devraj, and the Physical Education faculty for their dedication and commitment to organizing this event. Their collaborative efforts ensured everything ran smoothly.

Both academic and non-academic staff played vital roles at checkpoints along the route, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

The marathon concluded with the following house standings:

Standard I

  1. Pettigrew House – 1st Place
  2. Pope House – 2nd Place
  3. Pakenham Walsh House – 3rd Place
  4. Thomas House – 4th Place
  5. Ephick House – NIL

Standard II & III

  1. Pope House – 1st Place
  2. Pakenham Walsh House – 2nd Place
  3. Pettigrew House – 3rd Place
  4. Thomas House – 4th Place
  5. Ephick House – 5th Place

The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by Principal Mr. Alistair R.A. Freese, with some parents in attendance, adding to the event’s vibrant and supportive atmosphere.

It wasn’t just about winning; the energy, enthusiasm, and perseverance of each participant were truly inspiring as they made their way to the finish line.

The Junior School Mini Marathon is a landmark event in Cottons’ history, emphasizing the value of healthy competition and the school’s commitment to fostering well-rounded individuals, both academically and physically.
