On November 6th, Cottonians gathered eagerly in the school auditorium to witness the much-anticipated Inter-House Music Competition. Students from the five houses had dedicated themselves tirelessly to perfect their performances for the event, and excitement filled the air.
The event was graced by an esteemed panel of judges—accomplished musicians in Bangalore’s vibrant music scene—including Mr. Ignatius, Mr. John, and Mr. Humbert. With extensive experience in bands and across genres like jazz and rock, their presence added immense prestige to the competition.
Each house’s performance was composed of three parts: an instrumental solo, a vocal solo, and, finally, a dynamic Battle of the Bands where each house showcased its musical prowess in full. The selection of pieces was as diverse as it was ambitious, featuring timeless classics such as “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” beloved classical compositions like “Für Elise,” and modern anthems like “Skyfall” and “Shut Up and Dance.” The auditorium resonated with spirited and captivating performances, leaving the audience spellbound.
Before the results were announced, the judges treated the audience to a special performance, featuring renditions of “Feeling Good” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” The latter song was given a special touch with our very own Mrs. Gabriella joining in, adding a beautiful synergy to the piece.
After an intensely close competition, the results were revealed. Thomas House emerged victorious in both the Western Vocal category and the Battle of the Bands, while Elphick House claimed first place in the Western Instrumental Solo. In the final standings, Thomas House took the overall first place, with Pakenham Walsh in second and Elphick in third, followed by Pettigrew and Pope.
The Inter-House Music Competition was an outstanding success, highlighting not only the immense talent and passion of our students but also their unmatched musical mastery and enthusiasm.
On Straight On!
