The students of Junior II celebrated the spirit of Independence Day on 10 August 2026 with an exciting and engaging Independence Day Quiz Competition.
The programme began with a Bible Reading and Prayer, followed by a captivating mime performance titled “The Pride of India.” Through expressions and actions, our young performers beautifully conveyed a powerful message of patriotism without uttering a word.
The much-awaited quiz featured five exciting rounds – General Knowledge, Rapid Fire, Take the Pick, Dumb Charades and Crossword. The young Cottonians displayed remarkable enthusiasm, quick thinking and teamwork, while their Houses cheered them on with great excitement and sportsmanship.
Adding a special patriotic touch to the celebrations was the Parade of Young Freedom Fighters. Dressed as iconic freedom fighters, the children proudly introduced themselves and shared the famous slogans associated with the personalities they represented. Their confidence and enthusiasm made it a truly memorable presentation.

- 3rd Place: Pakhenham Walsh House & Pettigrew House
- 5th Place: Pope House
The celebration was not merely about winning a quiz; it was about learning from our history, honouring our freedom fighters and celebrating the spirit of unity and patriotism. The programme provided our young learners with a wonderful opportunity to learn, participate and celebrate together.
Heartfelt gratitude is extended to the coordinators and members of staff whose dedication and meticulous planning made the quiz competition and the entire programme a joyful and memorable experience for our young Cottonians.
