The Annual Art & Craft Exhibition 2026 was held on 19th and 20th February at the campus of Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, celebrating creativity under the theme “Where Imagination Speaks.” The exhibition showcased the remarkable artistic talents of students across all sections of the school.
The event was inaugurated on 19th February at 10:00 a.m. by Bishop Amma Caroline Anita and Rev. Christy Gnanadasan with the ceremonial ribbon cutting and lighting of the lamp. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Principal Alistair R. A. Freese, Vice Principal Dhiviyanathan J., block coordinators, administrative staff, faculty members, and student volunteers.
The programme began with a welcome address by Mrs. Evelyn Sumana, followed by a prayer by Mrs. Maxine Lever and a Bible reading by Mrs. Nanda Elizabeth. In her address, Bishop Amma Caroline Anita commended the students and emphasised the importance of art in education.
The exhibition featured an impressive display of paintings, sculptures, pottery, and handcrafted artefacts that reflected both traditional and contemporary artistic styles.
Highlights from the Sections
Little Wonders – Kindergarten:
Under the guidance of Mrs. Hema P, the youngest students showcased delightful creations including paper cup octopus, paper bowl turtles, paper plate animals, pot painting, mushrooms, paper lollipops, and handmade bags.
Wealth from Waste – Junior School:
Guided by Mrs. Bhagyalakshmi, Mrs. Helen Mary, Mrs. Sujatha B, and Mr. Suraj G students creatively transformed materials such as ice-cream sticks, paper cups, clay, buttons, and shells into impressive works of art, promoting sustainability.
Expanding Skills – Middle School:
Under the mentorship of Mr. Ramprasad S. Y., students presented cube paintings, pencil shading, sketch pen art, broken CD craft, cardboard masks, and scenery drawings, demonstrating growing artistic confidence and experimentation.
Masterpieces of Maturity – Senior & ISC:
Led by Dr. Shridhara S., senior students displayed refined canvas paintings and intricate wood prints that reflected depth, creativity, and artistic maturity.
Over the two days, the exhibition welcomed a large number of parents, students, and visitors who appreciated the exceptional work on display. Among those present were Mrs Agnes Caroline, Rev. Paul Dhinakaran and Mrs Vinisha Nero, who commended the dedication of both students and teachers.
In the vote of thanks, the Principal congratulated the Art and Craft faculty for their commitment throughout the year and for successfully organising the exhibition. He also acknowledged the Music Department for their support during the inauguration and their contributions to major school events.
The exhibition proved to be a resounding success and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to nurturing creativity and holistic education.
