On Saturday, 21st February 2026, Bishop Cotton Boys’ School reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence and holistic education by hosting a carefully curated Orientation Programme on Career Guidance for parents of students of Stds VIII and X. The programme witnessed an impressive turnout, reflecting the keen interest of parents in shaping the academic pathways and future careers of their children.
The session commenced with a warm welcome by Mrs. Glory Magdalene, setting a gracious tone for the morning. This was followed by a soulful praise and worship session led by the Music Department, the reading of selected scriptures by Miss Mary Avis, and an invocation by Mrs. Mercy Stanley.
In his keynote address, Principal Mr. Alistair R. A. Freese emphasised the vital role parents play in guiding their children while choosing elective subjects. His address offered clarity on informed decision-making, the academic philosophy of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, and the diverse career pathways available to students.
Faculty presentations on the elective subjects were insightful and comprehensive, enabling parents to gain a clear understanding of subject choices, assessment patterns and practical applications.
The Principal also outlined the academic framework for the 2026–27 academic session, including the terminal structure, examination pattern and the integration of practical components in Science and selected electives—ensuring that students develop both academic competence and practical skills.
The institution also places on record its sincere appreciation to Vice Principal Mr. Dhivyanathan J for meticulously organising and coordinating the programme.
Parents were further encouraged to consider enrolling their children in one of the school’s uniformed services. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
