A wonderful opportunity was provided to 21 students of classes XI and XII to visit the Brain Museum of the Neuropathological Dept., NIMHANS, Bangalore on 24th January 2025 organized by Ms Sanober Bharucha, Psychology Dept. The fact that it takes a year to get an appointment to visit this esteemed Research centre speaks for itself.
It is the only one of its kind in India and maintains the only Brain Bank in our Country. All samples for research undertaken in this field are provided by the Brain Bank.
Research scholars volunteer their time and expertise in enlightening students. Dr. Sunisha spent over two hours explaining the complexities of the brain and the nervous system. This was followed by a live demonstration of various parts of the human anatomy like the heart, lung, kidney, spinal cord, dura matter, trachea, and many more which the boys could handle themselves. The parts of the human skull, the vertebrae and all its intricacies were informed to our boys. A display of over 400 specimens of the brain of humans in comparison to animals, diseases of the brain like dementia, stroke, accidents, nerve issues like thrombosis and heart matters and such were shown and explained.
It has been an experience of a lifetime for our students, having gained much knowledge in this field. We extend our gratitude to our Principal, Mr. Alistair R.A. Freese for his encouragement and support for this visit.
