The Cotton’s Junior school elocution held on the 21st of January 2025 was a resounding success with students from standard four and five reciting a vast array of poems with a focus on clear articulation, expression, and confidence.The event was judged by a panel of five judges, one per house. The panel consisted of Mrs. Soma, Mrs Maxine, Mrs Iris, Mrs Roshita and Mrs Jenitta. The participants from 4th and 5th grade recited a range of poems from sharp,witty and humorous to deep,thought provoking and introspective. Numerous poems by legendary poets including “My Brother Bert” by Ted Hughes, “The Sway” by R L Stevenson and “The Caged Bird” by Maya Angelou were recited by the students with poise- expression, flair and intonation. Jonathan of Pettigrew house winning in grade four and Mohammed Rehan of Pope house winning in standard five. The cumulative house scores were announced with Thomas house coming 4th followed by Pakhenhem Walsh and Elphick house with Pope and Pettigrew house jointly securing first position. The event subsequently concluded leaving all those present entirely Mesmerized by the proficient and adept participants of the day.
