The Christmas Tree Lighting is a cherished tradition around the world, and this year marks the first time it is being celebrated at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School with our resident scholars and staff. Originating centuries ago in Germany, the earliest Christmas trees were lit with candles representing hope, warmth, and the light of Christ entering the world.

Bringing this tradition to Cottons for the very first time creates a moment of unity and joy within our campus. As the tree is illuminated, it symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and ushers in the spirit of peace, love, and goodwill.

For our resident scholars and staff, this inaugural ceremony is more than an event—it is the beginning of a new tradition that strengthens community life, fosters togetherness, and fills our historic campus with the warmth and joy of Christmas.

On Straight On!
