The Junior School Spelling Bee Competition was successfully held on 14 January 2026 at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, Bengaluru, for students of Standards 1 to 3. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from all five houses and was conducted in a lively and well-organised manner.
The primary objective of the event was to enrich vocabulary, strengthen spelling skills, and build confidence among young learners. The students participated with great enthusiasm, demonstrating commendable spelling ability, presence of mind, and sportsmanship throughout the various rounds, which included oral spelling, picture-based clues, word jumbles, and interactive challenges.
Each standard competed through a series of engaging rounds designed to suit their age and learning level. The performances across all standards were impressive, making the competition both enjoyable and intellectually stimulating.
At the end of the competition, Pope House emerged as the Overall Winner, followed by Elphick House in second place and Pakenham Walsh House in third place. Thomas House and Pettigrew House secured the fourth and fifth positions respectively.
The school extends its sincere appreciation to the coordinators, Mrs Lorraine Chan and Mrs Joyce Hebick, and to the teachers of Junior 1 for their meticulous planning, guidance, and dedicated efforts in ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the event.
The Spelling Bee Competition proved to be an enriching educational experience, fostering healthy competition and a love for language among the students.
