Report on Science Conference
Date: Saturday, 9th November 2024
Venue: St. Francis School, Bangalore
Students of Standard 11 (PCB) from Bishop Cotton Boys’ School had the opportunity to attend a stimulating Science Conference at St. Francis School, Bangalore. Organized to encourage scientific inquiry, interdisciplinary thinking, and the development of problem-solving skills, the conference aimed to enhance scientific literacy and awareness among students. The event featured distinguished scientists from the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research as keynote speakers.
The conference included three thought-provoking lectures on significant scientific topics: The Descent of Man in Biology, Quantum Physics in Physics, and Colloidal Nanomaterials and Their Applications in Chemistry. Each lecture was carefully curated to deepen students’ understanding of complex concepts and to highlight their real-world applications and implications.
Following the lectures, the conference hosted an engaging segment titled “Learning Science through Experiments.” This interactive session included fascinating demonstrations and hands-on experiments, with the assistance of student volunteers, which illustrated important scientific principles in an accessible and visually engaging manner. The session emphasized the value of experiential learning in mastering scientific concepts.
The conference concluded with an energetic Q&A session, allowing students to engage directly with the scientists and further enrich their understanding. The students were accompanied by Mrs. Neelika Joel and Mrs. Indu Shinto from the ISC Science Department, who provided invaluable guidance and support throughout the event.
The Department of Science (ISC) extends its sincere appreciation to the Principal for his support and kind approval, which enabled students to participate in this enriching educational experience.
