On November 8th, our school celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava with a special assembly that honoured the rich heritage, culture, and history of Karnataka. The gathering was filled with energy, pride, and a deep sense of affection toward our state and its unique traditions. Students, teachers, and staff came together to commemorate Karnataka’s formation, marking a truly memorable occasion for all.

The assembly began with a soulful worship song led by the Kannada Department teachers, setting a respectful and uplifting tone for the event. A series of inspiring speeches followed, delivered first in Kannada and then translated to ensure all could appreciate the origin and significance of Karnataka. The speeches traced Karnataka’s journey from the Mysore Kingdom era to its official formation on November 1, 1956. They highlighted linguistic pride and the cultural significance of Kannada, reminding everyone of the importance of preserving and promoting Karnataka’s heritage. These insights educated the audience and instilled a sense of pride in being part of this beautiful state.

The assembly also included a prize distribution ceremony to honour the winners of the Kannada Elocution and Kannada Essay competitions held prior to this occasion. The awardees received certificates and applause for their achievements, underscoring the school’s commitment to nurturing Kannada language skills among students.

Adding to the day’s charm, middle and senior students gave an enchanting traditional dance performance, choreographed by our talented teacher, Mrs. Hannah Priya. Dressed in vibrant, colourful costumes, the performers moved gracefully to the rhythm of classic Kannada songs, delighting the audience with a mesmerizing display that showcased Karnataka’s cultural richness and beauty.

Our Principal, Mr. Alistair R.A. Freese, addressed the assembly with an inspiring speech on the beauty and value of the Kannada language. He spoke about Kannada’s unique place in India’s linguistic diversity and encouraged students to take pride in learning and using the language. His words resonated deeply, inspiring students to cherish and contribute to Kannada’s legacy.

The special assembly concluded with the state anthem, followed by the national anthem, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of pride and respect for Karnataka and the Kannada language. The day’s celebrations served as a meaningful reminder of the unity, culture, and history that define the state of Karnataka.
