NSS Cleanliness and Beautification Drive at Sankey Tank

The NSS Unit of Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, in collaboration with Voice of Sadashiva Nagar, organised a Cleanliness and Beautification Drive on 13 June 2026 along the road adjacent to Sankey Tank. The initiative was led by Mrs. Shilpa Jatti, a dedicated community member committed to environmental awareness and civic responsibility.

A total of 75 ISC NSS volunteers participated enthusiastically in the programme. The students were briefed about the objectives of the drive and the need to restore the neglected area, which had accumulated garbage and become unhygienic.

The programme was graced by Dr. B. Ramana Rao, who inspired the students through his address on community service and social responsibility. The volunteers also interacted with Nagendra Chander Rao, who appreciated their commitment to community welfare.

The students were divided into teams and engaged in cleaning the roadside, removing waste, planting saplings, and painting walls and pavements. Their efforts transformed the area into a cleaner and more welcoming public space. A meaningful interaction with a local sanitation worker further reinforced the importance of civic responsibility and respect for those who maintain public hygiene.

The drive was successfully completed, followed by refreshments for all participants. The programme provided valuable lessons in environmental stewardship, teamwork, and community engagement while reflecting the core values of the NSS.

The NSS Unit extends its sincere gratitude to Principal Dr. Alistair R. A. Freese for his continued encouragement and support. Appreciation is also extended to Mrs. Neelika Joel, Mr. Prakash M., Mr. Karianna H. S., and Ms. Malvika S. V. for accompanying and guiding the students throughout the programme.
