The day truly stood out as a red-letter occasion, with the campus coming alive as early as 7:00 a.m., filled with excitement, colour, and anticipation. The young participants, dressed in bright and charming costumes, arrived with their parents, whose enthusiasm matched, if not surpassed, that of the children.
The programme commenced on a reverent note with a prayer led by Rev. Rachel Sudharshan, setting a serene tone for the morning. This was followed by a soulful invocation, “Footsteps Walking with Me,” rendered beautifully by the Kindergarten choir, creating an atmosphere of warmth and grace.
The Principal, Mr. Alistair R. A. Freese, delivered the Welcome Address, extending a warm greeting to the gathering and introducing the Chief Guest, Mrs. Sharmeelee, a renowned actress. The occasion was further graced by the presence of the Treasurer, Mr. P. Johnson, alongside an audience comprising proud parents, grandparents, and well-wishers.
The opening performance by the Kindergarten choir was a delightful medley set to the theme Rock ‘n’ Roll and Disco. Their cheerful voices and confident presentation captivated the audience, setting the tone for the performances that followed.
A highlight of the morning was the energetic dance presentation titled “Global Rhythms,” which showcased a rich tapestry of dance forms from around the world. From Japanese and African styles to Cowboy and Hawaiian sequences, the performance also celebrated India’s cultural diversity with dances spanning from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The finale, set to the iconic “Heal the World,” brought together the spirit of unity and harmony.
Demonstrating remarkable versatility, the young students also presented a play titled “The Gypsies’ Reward.” The performance stood out for its confident dialogue delivery, expressive character portrayals, and impressive stage presence. The play was further enhanced by lively dance sequences featuring the Men in Black, Soldiers, and Gypsies, conveying a meaningful message about the importance of family, love, and togetherness.
An emotional and heartwarming slideshow depicting the children with their families beautifully reinforced the theme of bonding and shared moments.
In a delightful surprise, the teachers presented a graceful and scintillating dance performance as a token of appreciation to the Chief Guest, earning resounding applause from the audience.
The programme was meticulously choreographed by Mr. Daryl Kumar, while the choir was ably directed by Mr. Faustin D’Rozario. A total of 335 students participated, showcasing their talents with unwavering enthusiasm throughout the two-and-a-half-hour programme. The joyous energy of the children, combined with the appreciative applause of the audience, ensured the event’s grand success.
In her address, the Chief Guest delivered an inspiring message, urging parents to invest quality time in nurturing the well-being of their children.
The seamless execution of the event was made possible under the able guidance and leadership of the Kindergarten Coordinators, Mrs. Beulah Thavamani and Mrs. Mary Longkumer, whose dedication resulted in yet another outstanding Annual Day celebration.
The programme concluded on a solemn note with the closing prayer, followed by the National Anthem, bringing the curtains down on a truly unforgettable day.
