First Invitational Cottonian Shield Football Tournament 2025 - Day 1

Hosted by Bishop Cotton Boys’ School

The First Invitational Cottonian Shield Football Tournament 2025 commenced with great energy and enthusiasm at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School. The opening day witnessed high-quality football across the Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 categories, featuring top teams from some of Bengaluru’s most reputed schools.

The tournament was inaugurated by Rev. Christy Gnanadasan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Management and Chairperson for the Bangalore Civil Area, Karnataka Central Diocese. Also present were Dr. Abraham Ebenezer, Convenor of the Education Committee, KCD; Mr. Johnson, Treasurer; and Rev. Immanuel Nehemiah, Member of the Board of Management.

Rev. Christy, in his address, applauded the initiative taken by Bishop Cotton Boys’ School to host a tournament that fosters friendship, healthy competition, and sportsmanship among students, urging participants to “play with integrity and respect for the game.”

Category – Under 19

The Under-19 teams from the participating schools will take to the field in the coming days, with matches expected to be closely contested as teams battle for a place in the finals.

A special exhibition fixture between the Staff teams of Cathedral High School and Bishop Cotton Boys’ School will be held on 13th October 2025, adding a spirited and entertaining dimension to the tournament. This much-anticipated match will serve as a testament to the camaraderie and sporting fellowship shared among educators.

The Day 1 fixtures concluded with an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation for the matches ahead. The Cottonian Shield tournament has already set high standards of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship, reflecting the ethos and sporting excellence of Bishop Cotton Boys’ School.

The tournament will culminate in the Finals on 13th October 2025, graced by Mr. Kim Noble, Principal of Tunbridge High School, as the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony.
