Around 50 students of Class IX from the Environmental Applications stream were taken for an educational visit to the St. Joseph’s University, Langford Town, Bangalore on Wednesday, 7th February 2024. The visit was an enriching experience for the students as it broadened their knowledge about natural and physical sciences.
The highlight of the visit was the privilege of experiencing astronomy through a real-time telescope followed by a brief lecture on the identification of the various constellations and galaxies.
Students had a glimpse into the captivating world of Geology by analyzing and observing the intricate patterns and compositions of rock formations like marble and granite.
They were exposed to the technique of measuring the height of a long tree, which ignited their scientific curiosity.
At the Department of Zoology, the students had valuable insights into the history of man and his stages of evolution.
They were also provided with a firsthand look at the Sewage Treatment Plant which enabled them to learn the different steps involved in the treatment like sedimentation, filtration and disinfection.
The overall experience is likely to have left a lasting impression on the students, deepening their understanding of the world around them while also encouraging critical thinking skills and the power of observation.
The students were accompanied by the faculty from the Department of Environmental Applications, Mrs. Elizabeth Angiras (HoD), Mrs. Rita S K, Mrs. Kezi Priscilla and Mr. Senthil R from the Department of Hindi.
The students were given light refreshments.
