A team of 10 students from Bishop Cotton Boys’ School participated in META Schools 2026, organised by the School of Languages and Literatures, St. Joseph’s University, on 3rd and 4th July 2026. The event was a vibrant celebration of intellect, creativity, and camaraderie, bringing together students from some of the city’s most prestigious educational institutions. Participants competed in a range of events, including the General Quiz, Fandom Menace, Caption Writing, Creative Writing, and Spelling Bee.
The proceedings commenced with an inspiring address by Dr. Arul Mani, Dean, School of Languages and Literatures, who set a thoughtful tone for the competitions. The 9th edition of META Schools once again provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their talents, exchange ideas, and build meaningful connections beyond the classroom.
The Bishop Cotton Boys’ School contingent delivered an outstanding performance across multiple events. Vaibhav Bhandari of Grade 10 secured Second Place in the Spelling Bee, demonstrating exceptional linguistic ability and composure. In the General Quiz, the team of Sourjo Banerjee (Grade 9) and Vaibhav Bhandari (Grade 10) achieved an impressive Fourth Place, while Parinay A and Abdul Ghani of Grade 8 finished in Fifth Place. Adding to the school’s accolades, Sourjo Banerjee of Grade 9 secured Second Place in Fandom Menace, a creative writing event, impressing the judges with his originality, imagination, and eloquence.
The team was accompanied by Mrs. Elizabeth Angiras, whose guidance and encouragement contributed significantly to the students’ participation.
Heartfelt congratulations to all the participants for their dedication, perseverance, and commendable achievements in bringing laurels to Bishop Cotton Boys’ School.
