Bishop Cotton Boys’ School marked the beginning of the academic year with a celebration of World Environment Day on 5th June 2024. The program commenced with a special assembly designed to instill a sense of awareness about nature conservation in the young and impressionable audience.
This year’s theme, "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience," was vividly brought to life through various activities. The Junior School students performed an engaging skit that highlighted the importance of restoring land and returning Mother Earth to her natural state. Following this, our School Captain Designate, Nirav Reddy BS, delivered a heartfelt letter he had written to future generations. In his address, he candidly discussed our past mistakes in resource management and urged future caretakers of the planet to learn from these errors.
The assembly also featured several musical performances, including Michael Jackson's "Earth Song" and "Heal The World," which deeply resonated with the audience, emphasizing the urgency of preserving our diminishing natural resources. The program concluded with all students taking a pledge to protect and nurture our environment which was led by the Principal.
Through this memorable event, Bishop Cotton Boys’ School successfully ignited a passion for environmental stewardship in its students, setting a positive tone for the academic year ahead.
