Bishop Cotton Boys’ School hosted its Annual Christmas Programme, Journey to Bethlehem: Mother to a Saviour and King, on 20 December 2025 in a distinctive open-air setting on the steps of the Bishop George Edward Lynch Cotton Auditorium. The entrance of the auditorium was creatively transformed into a three-tier stage, adding grandeur and depth to the visual presentation. The programme offered a moving portrayal of the Nativity, celebrating the enduring values of faith, humility and togetherness.

The evening began with a vibrant flash mob, followed by a delightful dance performance by the Kindergarten students. An opening prayer by Rev. Christopher Samuel invoked God’s blessings, after which the school choir rendered Angels from the Realms of Glory with grace and harmony. The gathering was further enriched by a Christmas message from Rt. Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar, who reflected on the true spirit of Christmas and God’s guiding presence in times of need.

The highlight of the programme was the Annual Christmas Musical, a splendid live adaptation of Journey to Bethlehem. The production was directed by the Principal, Mr. Alistair R. A. Freese, along with Ms Gabriella Tannishtha, Ms J Princy Sharon and Mrs Rupali. Through evocative music, compelling drama and striking visual elements, the musical brought the Nativity story to life. Ms. Gabriella Tannishtha portrayed Mary with poise, Mr. Avinash Romario depicted Joseph with sincerity, and Rev. Immanuel Nehemiah delivered a powerful performance as King Herod. The supporting cast, including the Three Wise Men, Antipater and other characters, added depth and vibrancy to the narrative, culminating in the joyous birth of Christ and reaffirming the message of hope and faith.

The programme was elegantly compered by Mrs Evelyn Sumana and Mrs Monica Joseph, ensuring a seamless flow of events. It concluded with the Vote of Thanks by the Vice Principal, Mr. Dhivyanathan J, followed by the closing prayer by Rev. Christy Gnanadasan and the benediction pronounced by Rt. Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar. The closing hymn, Silent Night, brought the evening to a serene and reflective close.

The school expresses its sincere appreciation to the Art Department for the impressive props, with special mention of Dr. Sridhara S, Mr. Ramprasad S Y, Mr. Suraj R, Mrs. Bhagyalakshmi, Mrs. Helan Mary Hemalatha, Mrs. Hema Premath and Mrs. Sujatha B. Special thanks are also extended to Mr. Daryl Kumar for the excellent choreography, and to Mrs. Lorraine Chan and Mrs. Sadhana for the exquisite costumes, meticulously stitched in-house, all of which significantly enhanced the splendour of the production.
