After a hiatus of five years, Bishop Cotton Boys’ School proudly revived one of its most anticipated inter-house literary events—the ISC Inter-House Dramatics Competition—held on the 9th of September 2024. This stage performance offered an unforgettable experience for the budding actors, with the theme for this year being “Nursery Rhymes with a Twist.”
Each house put in tremendous effort to creatively reimagine popular nursery rhymes, blending their plots with inventive twists. The scripts, production, and execution of each play were crafted with enthusiasm, captivating the audience from start to finish. Some of the chosen themes included ‘Humpty Dumpty’, ‘Old McDonald’, and ‘The Muffin Man’, all brought to life by the talented playwrights of Cottons.
The audience was thoroughly entertained, watching as the actors delivered their dialogues with ease, displaying remarkable theatrical skill. Every expression was keenly observed, every emotion deeply felt—a testament to the powerful dramatic experience on display. Elphick House emerged victorious, receiving well-deserved praise for their exceptional use of audio-visual effects that truly immersed the audience in the play. They were followed by Thomas House and Pope House in second and third places, respectively.
The prestigious Shivaji Ganesan Award for Best Actor was presented to Adarsh Rajkumar of Thomas House for his outstanding character portrayal, impeccable comic timing, and commanding stage presence.
The ISC Inter-House Dramatics Competition brought forth the talents of many first-time participants, celebrating the artistry of musical theatre. This tradition of nurturing young actors and creating cherished memories continues to be the heart of the competition.
