A group of 105 students from Standard 10 of Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, accompanied by 10 teachers and 2 tour operators, embarked on an exciting five-day educational tour to Sri Lanka from the 16th to the 22nd of October. The trip beautifully combined learning, adventure, and cultural exploration, offering the students an enriching international experience.

The journey began in Kandy, where the group visited the Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of Buddhism’s most sacred sites, and admired its architectural grandeur. They also explored a Spice Garden, gaining insights into Sri Lanka’s famed spice industry.

En route to Kalutara Beach Resort, the students stopped at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where they witnessed elephants being cared for—a heartwarming experience. The following day was filled with exploration and adventure, featuring visits to the Turtle Hatchery, a Madu River Boat Safari, and Cinnamon Island, where students observed the traditional process of cinnamon extraction, concluding with exciting water sports.

A highlight of the tour was a spectacular cultural performance organized exclusively for the group at the Tangerine Beach Hotel, Bentota. The vibrant display of Sri Lankan music and dance left everyone enthralled.

The final leg of the journey took the group to Colombo, the bustling capital, where they visited landmarks such as the Lotus Tower, Grand Red Mosque, Independence Square, St. Anthony’s Church, Sri Kailawasan Kovil, and a serene Buddhist temple—each reflecting the nation’s cultural diversity and spirit of unity.

The tour was an unforgettable experience filled with discovery, learning, and joy. It strengthened bonds, broadened horizons, and deepened appreciation for Sri Lanka’s beauty and diversity.
