A team of two students from Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, Ayush Prem and Glenn Harel of Class XI B, secured First Place at the Junior Social Scientist research competition held at Christ Junior College, Central Campus, on 7th November 2025.
The competition, which began in July with an orientation session, spanned over three months, guiding participants through the process of academic research on the theme “Urban Spaces: Communities and Well-being with reference to Bengaluru.”
The Cottonian team presented their paper titled “The Broken Commute: The Broken Public Transport System of 21st Century Bengaluru,” analysing the challenges faced by daily commuters in the city through surveys and data-based insights. Their work was lauded for its originality, relevance, and structured presentation, effectively combining statistical data with public opinion.
The duo won a cash prize of ₹7,000. Their participation was mentored by Mrs. Indu Shinto and Mrs. Neelika Joel, who encouraged the boys to engage with social issues and community development through research.
