The 2nd Cottonian Shield Football Tournament 2026, organised by Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, Bengaluru, concluded successfully with an exciting and competitive Day 4 featuring the finals in the Under-14, Under-17, Under-19 and Staff categories.
The Under-14 final saw Bishop Cotton Boys’ School defeat St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School 3–0, with goals from Adnan Baig (2) and Vihaan Mathew. Cottons were crowned Champions, while Adnan Baig was named Best Player and Player of the Finals, and Marek John received the Best Goal Keeper award.
In the Under-17 final, St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School emerged victorious over Bishop Cotton Boys’ School in a penalty shoot-out (5–3). Cottons finished as Runners-up, with Jayaditya winning Best Player and P. Suhas receiving the Best Fair Play Award.
The Under-19 final produced a thrilling contest, with Bishop Cotton Boys’ School overcoming St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School 5–3 in a penalty shoot-out. Cottons were crowned Champions, with Derek Shawn adjudged Best Player, Sameer Godhi Best Goal Keeper and Styrus Jorryn Player of the Finals.
In the Staff Final, Bishop Cotton Boys’ School and The Cathedral High School drew 2–2 in regulation time before Cathedral High School won the penalty shoot-out 6–4. Cottons finished as Runners-up, while Mr. Wilson Sampath Kumar was named Best Player.
The closing ceremony was graced by Rev. Christy Gnanadasan Chief Guest, with Rev. Emmanuel Nehemiah also in attendance. Their presence added significance and encouragement to the culmination of the tournament.
The successful completion of the 2nd Cottonian Shield is a reflection of the dedication and teamwork of the Sports Department, with special appreciation to Mr. Devaraj, HOD – Sports Department, Mr. Daryl, Football In-charge, and the entire P.Ed Faculty for their meticulous planning, commitment and efforts in making the tournament a resounding success.
The 2nd Cottonian Shield once again celebrated the spirit of football, sportsmanship, camaraderie and healthy competition among schools and staff teams.
