The Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2026 was held at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School on 1 February 2026, marking an emotional farewell to 555 outgoing Cottonians, many of whom had called the institution their second home for over a decade. The programme commenced with the School Choir’s stirring rendition of On Straight On, followed by the opening prayer led by Rev. Christy Gnanadasan. The ceremonial lamp was lit by the Presiding Dignitary, Rt. Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar; the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Sharada Srinivasan, Padma Shri awardee; Rev. Satish Timothy Paul; Rev. J. Christopher Samuel; Mr. S. Devadas Sadhu; Rev. Christy Gnanadasan; Dr. Abraham Ebenezer; Mr. P. Johnson; Principal Mr. Alistair R. A. Freese; and Vice Principal Mr. Dhivyanathan J.

In his address, the Principal reflected on the graduates’ journey and growth over the years. Special awards were presented to students who distinguished themselves in various spheres of school life: School Captain Cup – Nitin Joseph; Head of Day Scholars Cup – Daksh Jain; Head of Boarders Cup – David Luis Sumer; Maiden Cup – Nitin Joseph; Best All-Rounder (Senior) – Nitin Joseph; Best All-Rounder (Junior) – Colin Kavithran Nicholas; Best Senior Prefect – Abhay K; Best Junior Prefect – Rian Ahuja; Best Boarding Prefect (Senior) – Sakshat Rawal; and the Matthan Memorial Award for Character and Leadership – Dikshit S. Musical performances by the School Choir and the ISC Band, featuring Stand By Me, Lean on Me, and Oasis’s Don’t Look Back in Anger, added warmth and nostalgia to the occasion.

The Chief Guest delivered the Valedictory Address, inspiring the graduates to carry forward the Cottonian spirit, followed by the Presidential Address by Rt. Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar, who reminded students of their duty towards society and the nation. The ceremony also honoured retiring staff members—Mrs. Christine Browne, Mrs. Y. Jeevalatha, Mrs. Sunita Sharma, Mrs. Sulochana Nagaraj, Mr. Obaiah D., Mr. Arul Dass I., Mrs. L. Jamuna, and Mr. Mutharaju V.—for their dedicated service to the institution.

Representing the parents of the outgoing batches, Mr. Darlington Jose Hector and Mrs. Sharmeelee expressed heartfelt gratitude to the school community. Outgoing School Captain Nitin Joseph delivered a moving farewell address before formally passing on the mantle of leadership to School Captain-Designate Daksh A. Singhvi. The Graduates’ Pledge, administered by the Principal, reaffirmed the students’ commitment to uphold the Cottonian spirit and serve society with integrity.

The spiritual tone of the ceremony was reinforced through the singing of the Founder’s Hymn, a special prayer by Rev. J. Christopher Samuel, and the Benediction by Rt. Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar. The programme concluded with a symbolic candle-lighting ceremony and the traditional chanting of the Cottonian March on the steps of the Bishop George Edward Lynch Cotton Auditorium.
